The strategic objective of the European Competitiveness Programme for NI 2007-13 is “to help create a more competitive and sustainable NI and, in particular, to contribute to closing the productivity gap with the UK.” The Programme is focused on priorities which help sustainable competitiveness and innovation, sustainable entrepreneurship and enterprise and accessing and enhancing the natural environment and is designed to help NI take its place as part of a more competitive and dynamic European economy founded on knowledge and innovation.
